Sleeping Dog Zine Issue 001

The Sleeping Dog is an independent publication collecting regional folklore, strange stories, and community encounters from near and far. The collection covers everything from cryptids, aliens, ghosts, and paranormal happenings to haunted landmarks, weird history, unexplained phenomena, local legends, and other stories that are just too strange to ignore.

The Sleeping Dog lives both online and in print. The online publication, hosted on Substack, shares individual stories, encounters, and folklore as they come. The zine issues are curated collections built around a different theme, bringing a handful of strange stories together in one little printed package.

The very first issue digs into a few of the Inland Empire’s most told ghost stories, haunted roads, local legends, and strange encounters. It’s a little introduction to the people, places, movies, and haunts that make the Inland Empire’s horror folklore so interesting.

From ghost legends passed around by locals to the roads and places with stories of their own, this short but mighty first issue is a starting point for a growing collection of regional weirdness. Consider it an introduction to the stories, scares, and haunted corners of the Inland Empire that The Sleeping Dog hopes to keep exploring!
